Father’s Day Cards

DIY Father’s Day Cards are an easy way for your little ones to make a gift for Daddy. This card was made for our #trysomethingnewsundays. Father’s Day  is usually quite easy at my house.  I’m fortunate that my husband is happy spending the day on his hammock, reading some comic books, and enjoying a tasty dinner.  Even though I buy my husband a gift every year, I also like the kids to make something of their own for their Dad.

This year, I came across a fun way for the kids to make their own Father’s Day cards.  All you need is a 8.5 x 11 piece of paper (in the color of your choice), and markers or crayons.  For younger kids, you’ll probably need to assist with the folding.

  1. 1 sheet of 8.5 by 11 inch paper, in the color of your choice.
  2. Markers or Crayons in any color.

To make your Father’s Day Card:

1. Fold the paper in half (long way) and open it up.

2. Fold the paper to the middle line on each side.

3. Turn the paper over and fold down the top (about 1/2 inch) this will be your collar.

4. Turn the paper over, fold it down the same amount as the back fold, open that fold.

5. To form the collar, fold the corners to the middle fold on each side, line them up with the line folded in step 4.

 6. For the sleeves, fold the bottom corners out on each side at 45 degree angle.

7. To make the shirt, fold the paper in half, tuck the bottom under the collar.

8. Now your have your card.  Open the card up to write a message inside.

9. Flip the card over, and draw a tie, pocket, buttons etc. Color as desired.

10. Fold the card back up. Done!
